Efforts To Increase Graduation Rates And The GradNation Campaign

According to the Department of Education, U.S. high school graduation rates have been steadily rising during the past five years, and reached an all-time high in the 2013-2014 school year. Different states use differing methods, programs and initiatives to increase graduation rates, with varying degrees of success.

Joining us to discuss improving student retention and high school graduation rates are Executive Director, Polly Lusk Page; Executive Director and Professor, Dr. Thomas Lasley; and Founder and CEO of and Vice Chair of the Service Year Alliance at , John Bridgeland.

The campaign's goals is to achieve a 90 percent nationwide graduation rate by the Class of 2020, with no school graduating fewer than 80 percent of its students on time. To view the GradNation 2016 Data Brief,
