As the sun sets on summer (unofficially, anyway) make the most of it by attending any one of this weekend's upcoming events, including everyone's favorite: Riverfest.

Thursday, August 30
- The Cincinnati-based, Louisana rock-n-roll style band Robin Lacy & DeZydeco play Uptown Park's (4 North Main Street) starting at 7 p.m. This night also happens to be Oxford's annual community picnic at the park.
- Tampa-based blues singer Lauren Mitchell (6267 Buckley Road) for a performance that begins at 8 p.m.
- , this time featuring Ben Knight and The Welldiggers, from 7-9 p.m.
- From 5:30-9 p.m., The Sunburners play Moerlein Lager House's (115 Joe Nuxhall Way) "" summer concert series, where $1 of each beer purchased benefits the Cincinnati Parks Foundation.
- at Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum (4521 Spring Grove Avenue) come to end today at 8 p.m.
- Northern Kentucky University begins free screenings (complete with free popcorn, chocolate covered pretzels and water) of films from 1968, as part of its 50th anniversary celebration. "," kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at Digitorium, Griffin Hall (College of Infomatics, Highland Heights, Ky.) with Planet of the Apes. The series continues through Dec. 6 with different films.
Friday, August 31
- To celebrate the end of summer, all weekend long Kings Island (6300 Kings Island Drive) ," where select food, games and merchandise are just (you guessed it) $1.
- It's the last night to see "The Future Is Female" (609 Walnut Street), featuring artwork by 43 female and feminist artists. The hotel/museum is holding a brief reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. with light bites and cocktails, and at 6:30 p.m., featured artist Alison Saar will give a presentation on her work.
- Cincinnati Summer Jam starting at 7 p.m. featuring performances by Hilliard, Cross Talk, Morgin Madison, Crystal Grid and Vaance.
Saturday, September 1
- Fountain Square is when it hosts Dave Hause and The Mermaid starting at 7 p.m.
- The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center (50 East Freedom Way) opens the exhibit, "Mandela: The Journey to Ubuntu," where photographer Matthew Willman -- commissioned by The Nelson Mandela Foundation during the last 10 years of Mandela's life -- shows photographs of the locations that played an important role in in Mandela's personal fight for freedom. The exhibit, which runs until January 1, 2019, also features artifacts from Mandela's life. with general admission; $5 for members.
- Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park gets ready for Halloween with a performance of Stephen King's Misery at The Marx Theatre (962 Mt. Adams Circle). Tickets for the 8 p.m. show -- which runs through September 29 -- .
- Great American Ball Park (100 Joe Nuxhall Way) hosts Cincy BeerFest, featuring more than 100 breweries from the Tri-State and around the country, plus live music. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and .
- The amphitheater at Devou Park (1201 Park Drive, Covington, Ky.) hosts a performance called The Over-Tour of Broadway, sampling songs from Broadway's Golden Age of musicals with overtures by the likes of George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and more, all performed by the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. - From 12-4 p.m., Coney Island (6201 Kellogg Avenue) holds a Cruise-a-palooza . The event is free with paid admission to the park.
- Also from 12-4 p.m., Cincinnati Arts Center (953 Eden Park Drive) -- this time, a Chamberpalooza, featuring string quartets and three groups of young musicians with "astounding talent." Performances take place in the Great Hall and an "instrument petting zoo" for children is located in Gallery 126, all free.
- The Rabbit Hash General Store (10021 Lower River Road, Rabbit Hash, Ky.) Old Timer's Festival starting at 11 a.m. The day-long event will see local bands, food vendors, artists and more.
Sunday, September 2
- Need we point out that today is Riverfest, featuring the WEBN fireworks and the Rubber Duck Regatta? Chances are, you've already got your blankets and chairs packed. .
- Those looking to start the day on a chill note can check out 21c Museum Hotel's (609 Walnut Street) Yoga with Art experience starting at 9:30 a.m. The $5 event is exactly what it sounds like -- yoga, with art.
- The Cincinnati Hispanic Fest starting at 11 a.m. at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds (7700 Vine Street). The day features food, music and dancing and is a cash-only event. Parking is $10 per vehicle and $2 at the door.
Monday, September 3
- If you don't already have plans for an end of summer grill out, head to the Labor Day Picnic (11490 Hamilton Cleves Road) from 12-8 p.m. For $12.50 per person (children 2 and younger are free) you can ride rides and roller coasters, enjoy free soft drinks eat Sno Kones and cotton candy for $1.
